Abstract

Scientific creativity has travelled a long journey from the basic idea of the Torrance model of creativity assessment and assessment of scientific knowledge and process given by many authors. The present study aims to develop a scientific creativity test for Class VIII students. A three-dimensional scientific creativity structured model (SCSM) proposed by Adey and Hu (2002) in the science context was used as a theoretical guide to developing the test items. The model (SCSM) consists of three dimensions: trait, process and product. The trait dimension includes fluency, flexibility and originality; product includes science phenomenon, science knowledge and science problem; technical product and process include imagination and thinking. The test consists of seven items to measure all three dimensions of the test and is administered many times for trial and standardisation on Class VIII students. The test is standardised by establishing validity, reliability and item analysis. In order to understand the effect of variations in the due variable on scientific creativity, this test was used by conducting a small experiment for a research study.
