Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished, and high-quality manuscripts that fall within the scope of the Journal of Physical Education and Well-being (JPEWB). Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with these guidelines before submission.

  1. The journal accepts Research Articles, Review Articles, Policy Papers, Field Studies, Case Studies, Innovative Teaching Practices, Book Reviews, and Reports on NCERT Initiatives.
  2. Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  3. Manuscripts shall be prepared in English/Hindi in accordance with the Manuscript Preparation Guidelines of the journal.
  4. Authors should submit the manuscript along with all mandatory documents, including the Title Page, Manuscript, Cover Letter, Author Declaration Form, and other applicable forms (Check Submission List).
  5. All submissions shall undergo an initial editorial screening followed by a double-blind peer review process. Detailed information is available in the Peer Review Policy.
  6. Authors are required to ensure compliance with the journal's Publication Ethics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy, and other applicable editorial policies before submission.
  7. Revised manuscripts should be submitted within the stipulated time along with a point-by-point response to the reviewers' comments.
  8. After acceptance, authors will receive page proofs for final review. Only essential typographical or factual corrections may be made at this stage.
  9. Published articles shall be governed by the journal's Copyright and Licensing Policy and Open Access Policy.
  10. Authors are advised to consult the Submission Checklist before submitting their manuscripts to ensure that all required documents and information have been provided.
  11. Authors are requested to submit their manuscripts through the official submission system (https://ncert.nic.in/journals-and-periodicals.php?ln=en) /e-mail (pewbjournal@ncert.nic.in) of the Journal of Physical Education and Well-being (JPEWB). The Editorial Office will acknowledge receipt of the manuscript within one week of submission. Editorial decisions will ordinarily be communicated within six months under normal circumstances.

Manuscript Preparation

Authors are requested to prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the NCERT Journals Publication Policy (2025) and the manuscript preparation guidelines prescribed by the Publication Division, NCERT.

The journal accepts manuscripts of varying lengths depending on the type of submission. Original research articles, case studies, research problem-based papers, and project reports should be 3,000- 8,000 words. Notes, comments, and policy observations should be 3,000- 5,000 words, whereas book reviews, including the abstract, should be 1,500-2,500 words.

The prescribed word limit applies to the main manuscript, including the abstract, references, tables, and figure captions, but excludes the separate Title Page.

Title Page: A separate Title Page should be submitted to facilitate the double-blind peer review process. The Title Page should include: Title of the manuscript, Full name(s) of the author(s), Institutional affiliation(s), ORCID ID(s)/ Google Scholar ID, Corresponding author's name and email address, Postal address of the corresponding author, and Acknowledgements (if any). Authors should follow Title Page template.

Manuscript Format:

The manuscript to be submitted must have the following mandatory sections:

For the Manuscripts submitted in English, the Title must be in Times New Roman font of 14-point size. The main text must be in Times New Roman font of 12-point size. For the Manuscripts submitted in Hindi, the Title must be in DevLys 010/Kruti Dev 010/Unicode font of 14-point size. The main text must be in DevLys 010/Kruti Dev 010/Unicode of 12-point size.

The Manuscript must contain Title, Abstract (in 150-200 words), Keywords (5- 6), Main text area, Conclusion and References. The Main Manuscript must not contain any information that reveals the identity of the author(s).

Abbreviations when they are used for the first time must be spelt out and explained.

Reference and Citation Style: All in-text citations and references should conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th Edition (2020). Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all references. For detailed guidance on APA Style (7th Edition), authors are encouraged to consult the official APA Style website.

Tables & Figures: Tables and figures should be incorporated within the main manuscript immediately after their first citation in the text. High-resolution files may be requested after acceptance, if required for publication. Any artwork, figures and other graphics must be clearly visible, or, if needed.

Submission Requirements:

A complete manuscript submission to the Journal of Physical Education and Well-being (JPEWB) should include the following documents:

  1. Title Page containing the manuscript title, author(s)' names, affiliations, ORCID ID(s)/ Google Scholar ID, corresponding author's contact details, acknowledgements, and funding information (if applicable).
  2. Main Manuscript prepared in accordance with the Manuscript Preparation Guidelines, without any information that identifies the author(s).
  3. Cover Letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief, confirming the originality of the manuscript and its relevance to the journal.
  4. All mandatory submission documents, including the Cover Letter, Author Declaration Form, and other applicable documents, should be submitted along with the manuscript.
  5. Supplementary Files, where applicable (e.g., datasets, questionnaires, interview schedules, appendices, multimedia files, or high-resolution figures).

All submissions will undergo an initial editorial screening, including a similarity check, before being considered for peer review. Manuscripts that are incomplete or do not comply with the journal's submission requirements may be returned to the corresponding author for revision.

Note: The Copyright Agreement Form will be required only after the manuscript has been accepted for publication.
